FRIDAY'S BOSS FROM HEAVEN

Send in a Boss From Hell (or heaven)!  It's time to tell yer story. Here's a few! Where's yers?

Mr. Odd Todd,

Man, do I have a Boss from Heaven story for you!  My last job was in sales
(although my BS is in Electrical Engineering) in Connecticut.  I kinda moved
to Connecticut because the girl I had been dating got a pretty sweet job up
there after college and I had just completed my whole "drive around the
country for a year after you graduate" thing-ay, and I had known her for
several years and things were going great at the time.  So when I got this
job in CT, I was pretty psyched.  It was well paying and real close to the
University of New Haven, where I decided to take some classes towards a
Masters.

I don't have a specific BFH anecdote, I'll just paint a general
picture.  Being well paid and all, my boss would continually buy lunch for
everyone. This happened at least once a week, usually more.  In addition,
our product was seasonal, so in our downtime, she would encourage us (under
the table, of course, not in front of the owner) to do our taxes, write
Christmas cards, do our homework (in my case) or just have fun with each
other.  Plus she was super cool about taking time off, letting us leave
early, going to the doctor, or just taking a personal day or two (like when
my girl and I broke up).  She defended our sales department when the rest of
the company would blame us for pretty much everything that was wrong with
the company.

So, because of her, I was able to interview at engineering
firms, study for my exams, and move back to Long Island pretty easily when
things fell apart with Ms. "My Job Is More Important Than Our Relationship".
On top of this, within a week of when I gave her my two weeks notice (when I
landed my new job here on Long Island), she also got an excellent new job.
Oh yeah - I forgot to mention the whole overtime thing.  When things got
busy, we would often work a couple late hours and through lunch.  So
naturally, we were given overtime, and our boss would tell the
accounting/payroll department our extra hours.  Trust me, she was super
generous.  Generous enough that I bought myself a nice 34" widescreen HDTV
to help cheer me up after the break up.

So now I have a great new job, and my boss here is a pretty cool guy
himself.  Hopefully I'll have a BFHeaven story about him too.

By the way ladies, Doug is single and back on Long Island, so watch out!
