Movie Review: Ocean’s 11

Ocean’s 11 may be an old movie, but it is definitely worthy of a review. It has been 15 years since it was released in 2011, and has been followed by the ever popular Ocean’s 12 and Ocean’s 13. Ocean’s 11 is the original and therefore unsurprisingly the best of the three films in the trilogy. It has to be –by a longshot –my favorite casino heist movie of all time. However, whenever I re-watch the movie for the millionth time, it makes me long for a trip to a Las Vegas casino. Sadly, I live pretty far from Nevada. But I have found a pretty good compromise for my geographic situation. Online casinos are just as good as traditional ones, and offer you great security for your money too (no heists here!). I really like to play the most popular types of video poker online, and I really enjoy that I can do it from the comfort and convenience of my own home. Royal Vegas has a super easy to use interface, and playing poker there is an absolute treat.

Ocean’s 11 has many great aspects to it as a movie. Firstly, there is the cast. It is so rare that you find a movie that has such a star-studded cast, with phenomenal actors. We are talking about George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, Julia Roberts, and Bernie Mac. When you put all these creative geniuses in one movie, you are just about guaranteed a good outcome. These actors combined with a captivating script and a good team of producers and directors, made it a joy to watch.

If you have never seen the movie before, it is a classic casino heist movie. The plot revolves around Danny Ocean wanting to pull off the ultimate and seemingly impossible heist –hitting not one, not two, but three Las Vegas casinos. He puts together the craziest crew to help him pull off the job. The strategy is to get crew members to be doing a combination of ‘cons’ for the whole bigger heist to come into being. With a lot of luck, and their general tenacity, things go well for the crew.

The movie has a great combination between intense drama, action, and humor in it. You will be scared, happy and clutching your sides as you laugh at various stages throughout the film. So it is a versatile crowd pleaser of note! The movie has been produced incredibly well; with some really beautiful, well thought out scenes in it. It is a movie where it seems that everyone from the lighting crew to the camera men, were stellar and committed to creating a fantastic film. And the best park of Ocean’s 11 is that once you are finished with that, you still have Ocean’s 12 and then Ocean’s 13 to watch! So invite your friends over, get the popcorn popping because you are going to need some serious snacks for three movies. Nothing quite like a good Ocean’s trilogy movie night!
