Subject: Remote control

If you have a PalmOS device with an IR emitter, there’s 2 really great universal remote programs you can use. NoviRemote and OmniRemote that you point your regular remote at and press the buttons to teach the program how to behave.

There’s probably ones for Windows Mobile as well if you have one of those with an IR sensor.

If you don’t have either, the really best universal remotes are the ones you can point your regular remote at and press the buttons so the universal learns the codes, but even the other kind that cost $10 or so work just dandy in most cases.

So yeah…

Lots of ideas for you :

 To: oddtodd7@hotmail.com

 Hello OddTodd,

I have been a frequent visitor to your site for the
past 7-8 years. My favorite part is definitely What's
happening and the weekend movie reviews.

Just like you I recently went through the bother of
having to get a new mattress/bed. However, visiting
IKEA actually made it quite pleasant. I tried all the
different beds they had there and the one I found most
comfortable had a price tag of 486 USD (king size
version of SULTAN STRANDLIDEN. There were plenty of
people in there store and nobody (including me were
trying to haggle the price, nor were there any
discount offers. The sales person informed me of their
30 days "no-questions asked" return-policy as well as
the 12 months product warranty and 36 months
fabrication error warranty which was included in the
price for all beds. The same-day delivery cost 84 USD.

Could this weird store be the safe haven for people
who just want to buy a bed for the price on the
price-tag? It might work different in the US compared
to where i live. If you need a new bed in ten years or
so it might be worth a try. Please let me know if you
 give them another visit.

Keep those great ranting posts coming.

 Best regards
 Tomas (from Sweden)

Subject: Meat eating dilemma possible solution...
To: oddtodd7@hotmail.com

Just thought I would write you an email about the whole meat eating dilemma. I wanted to become a vegan a couple of years ago, but it didn't work out for a lot of similar reasons. Now, however,  I just try to eat healthy (which for me includes less meat, poultry, etc). I didn't have to become a vegan or even a vegetarian. It's simply about making the right choices. People can be smart about purchasing and eating the right foods. Check out meatrix.com -> cute and informative. You can find tons of links on that website and lots of great information. Some good ones are eatwellguide.org and sustainabletable.org. If people just become more food conscious, it's better for the environment, the animals, the farmers and food producers and especially for the people themselves.
Http://www.care2.com/greenliving/why-buy-organic-dairy-meat.html has a great top ten list. Peace out and happy eating.
P.S. I've been living in Korea for a while and enjoy your website even from here! Thanks!! :) Maritza
Never miss a thing.

Subject: My job sucks

Hey tOdd!

I miss reading the section on crappy bossy and dead-end jobs - kinda like mine y'know.  I can't remember what you used to call it, but it always made me feel better.  I liked reading other people's horror stories.  Sometimes it made my job seem not as bad.  Actually, when I get annoyed or bored at my job, I always go to your site to cheer me up!

Jeez - the self-centered-know-it-all-condenscending-life-revolves around me-I have all the answers-I'm better than you- biatch is calling me right now.  Have to go.

Bye!

I’m a moral vegetarian, and have been for many years now (meaning I didn’t do it for the health aspects – I’m a “bring on the cookies” kind of girl).  I’m so proud of you for realizing and posting about the problems with the meat industry!  Way to go, Todd!  Really, you are bound to impact someone else by doing this.

Anyway, don’t apologize for the fact that you may eat meat some day if someone else is providing it – at least you have acknowledged the moral problem and are on your way to handling it the way you want to handle it.  Every time you pass on red meat, you’re helping a cow and not contributing to global warming.  I’m also pleased to see you’re against veal – that should be illegal, along with foi grasse.

So start out the way you want to and you may be surprised at what happens.  I started many years ago as an experiment to see if I could get from April to my birthday in August and then I’d celebrate with a big old cheeseburger.  Well, my birthday came and I had no desire for it.  I am so happy that you’re doing this, Todd!    Peace.

Lois
