TUESDAY'S LUNCH SPECIAL IS FROM: JONE in lakeville, ma.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SLUMGULLION

Peel and dice 3 small white potatoes

Slice one small onion into cute little crescent things

Place potatoes & onions in a small saucepan, add salt and cover with water.

Bring to a boil until potatoes are just cooked...but not overcooked (i.e. mushy), then drain out 98% of the water...put this to the side.

In a larger pan cook 1 lb. of elbow macaroni (add salt to water or else the macaroni will be bland--and add 1 tablespoon of butter in the water so the 'ronies don't stick together...after all they ain't people!)

When the macaroni is done -- drain out water and add the patiently waiting cooked potatoes/onions to macaroni pan.

Open a large can of stewed tomatoes and throw it in there, with a generous helping of butter...(the real stuff!-butter believe it).

Heat it on low, add pepper and salt if it needs it.

Pour it in a bowl, cover it with Parmesean cheese and use a spoon.

Serves 4 or in some cases 1.

I like this dish because it goes back to the Depression years...it's comfort food and on a cold, dreary day after eating this you actually feel like you have a little friend in a bowl....hmmm....not like an imaginary friend....just a stomach soothing friend.  There is SO much starch in this meal that after you eat it you'll want to take a nap...pleasant dreams.
