Hi tOdd!

I've been reading your site for about a year... good stuff!

Anyhoo... I've been wanting to send in a recipe for a long time and I finally felt inspired to do it today.  You know those quite excellent "freezes" you get in Chinatown or at just about any asian tea place?  Well, a freeze is kind of like bubble teas, but without the tea.  They have the best ones in the world at this place called Joy Yee's Noodle Shop in Chicago's Chinatown.  Look it up if you ever come for a visit!

Freezes are like Slurpees minus the gross dye that gives you a moustache and the sickley sweetness.  It's also made out of REAL fruit as opposed to blue food coloring that supposedly tastes like "raspberry".

Jodi's Watermelon Freeze

Ingredients
- Fresh Watermelon.  (2-3 cups worth, diced.  Take some of the seeds out, but you don't need to take 'em all out.)
- Ice (1.5 - 2 cups worth per person, approximately)
- Simple Syrup (Either make it yourself (boil 1 part water and dissolve in 2 parts sugar), or cut some CORN syrp with water.  Don't use dark syrup, it'll make the freeze look gross.  And don't just mix in some sugar, it won't incorporate well.

In a blender, crush up 2 cups of ice.  Make sure you really crush it up good!  No big chunks allowed here!  Add in 1.5 - 2 cups of cut up watermelon (leave a few chunks behind), and 1/4 cup of the simple syrup.  Blend until smooth.  Pour into a large glass and top off with a few big chunks 'o' watermelon.

It's really fun to see the little black seed specs in there!  Oh, and you can use other fruit too, I'm sure.  It's fun to put mango chunks in as a garnish, too.  Yum!

ENJOY!!!

Zippo’s Barbeque Sauce

1 cup Ketchup
½ cup Vinegar
1 tbs. Honey
1 tbs. Worcestershire sauce
1 tbs. Minced garlic
½ tbs. Garlic powder
½ tbs. Onion Powder
½ tbs. Cayenne pepper
½ tbs. Cilantro (dry)
½ tbs. Salt
½ tbs. Black Pepper
½ tbs. Hickory Liquid Smoke

Combine all the ingredients.  I add them all in a sealable container (ie. a mason jar, or Tupperware), and shake.  From this point, it’s all about preference, adjust spices to taste.

This is a great bbq sauce for cooking chicken, ribs, burgers, etc.  Use as a marinade or Just add the sauce in the last moments of grilling.

Sex on the Beach Jello Shots

What’s a party without jello shots?  They’re normally a mellow, shot that anyone can put down, and fun to do.  Most jello shots are pretty simple some flavor of jello and a mild taste of vodka.  OK for most folks, but I need something new and different…

2 boxes Orange Jello
1 cup boiling water
1 cup pineapple juice (very chilled)
1 cup cranberry juice (very chilled)
2 cups Peach Schnapps(very chilled)
2 dozen 2oz portion cups

Stir in the jello mix in to the boiling water until as completely dissolved as possible. Then mix in the pineapple juice, cranberry juice, and peach schnapps.  Stir well and pour in to portion cups.  Let chill in fridge for 3-4 hours.
