Hey tOdd, Comin at you from Los Angeles with the
Sunshine Beer
Boiled Currywurst
here:
Yer gonna need a 22 ounce bottle of good beer. I Like a good stout, but the
beer is up to you, just use a good one.
Next you want 4-8 raw bratwurst. Not the pre-cooked kind.
Two cloves of cloves (optional)
One clove of garlic (required)
Some curry powder
A pinch of chili powder
A bottle of good old fashioned ketchup.
So you take a sauce pan big enough to fit your sausage, and you heat it up,
so its hot, and you toss in the sausage (Thaw it if it is frozen before
tossing it the pan). It'll hiss and maybe even burn a bit on the bottom.
That's okay, but don't let them get too burnt. Now, after the sausage have
been hissing for about a minute, you flip 'em over and poke em all with a
knife a few times, then you pour in your beer. If your doing 4 or 5 it
should be enough to cover the sausage, if not, just add a bit of water
untill the sausages are submerged. Cut the clove of garlic in to the brew,
toss in the cloves if you have 'em, turn the heat to medium, slosh
everything around to make sure nothing is stuck to the bottom, cover it up,
and go do something else for about 20 minutes.
Now come back and uncover it and let it boil down for quite a while, like
maybe a half hour, meanwhile mix up the Curryup. Which is ketchup and curry
powder plus chili powder to taste. Sounds strange, but ever so tasty.
So once the liquid has boiled down to about a third of it's original volume,
spear the brats each a few more times each, slosh them around, and take them
out. Mix a teaspoon of the liquid for every two tablespoons of Curryup and
use as a dipping sauce or... you know, like ketchup.
