TUESDAY'S LUNCH SPECIAL IS FROM:
BJ in Toronto, Canada!
----------------------------------------
This recipe is called:
"Deluding
Myself that it's Healthy Cuz I Cooked Something and it's Got Salad in it, in a
Bowl."
Preparation Time: 5 minutes
You need:
2 handfuls of salad from a bag o' salad;
2 1/2 handfuls of 5 minute rice;
2 1/2 handfuls of water (best to use a glass, though);
Sprinkles of soya sauce;
Sprinkles of some kind of tolerable salad dressing, like Creamy Caesar or
something;
Pinch of salt;
1 fried and chopped egg (optional).
Bring the water to a boil in a pot, and throw in the rice. Stir it up and
stuff, now and then, so it doesn't get burnt on to the pot. You know,
simmer until the water is gone. While that's happening, throw some salad
in a medium sized mixing bowl, and sprinkle some dressing over it.
When the rice is done, sprinkle in some salt and soya sauce, and mix it all up
in the pot - the soya works because it gives you that "Chinese Food"
experience without having to order out - otherwise the rice just sucks.
Also, if you throw in the salt and soya while the rice is still in the pot, it
makes you feel like you're a chef on TV or something.
Optionally, you can also fry up an egg, and then chop it up and throw that in
the bowl too. That way, you can figure you're also getting some protein
and making a meal out of it all, (although maybe a boiled egg would be
healthier, but that sounds like too much trouble to me - an extra pot, extra
cooking time etc.).
Anyway, throw the rice into the bowl, and mix it all up. That warms up the
cold salad, and so, with all the taste experiences going on, you don't mind
having to eat the salad so much - and that way, it doesn't rot away in the
fridge because you just bought it on a whim to get healthy knowing you probably
weren't going to eat it anyway.
Then serve yourself right out of the bowl - use chopsticks if you have em for
more romance - but don't use too big a mixing bowl, cuz that'll just make you
feel too weird.
