After
Midnight
Masterpieces
I’m
from a farming community on the
Murray River
. We
don’t have any shops or… anything really, except luscious green
paddocks of irrigated grapes, citrus, avocadoes etc, and we
have fishing and watersports!! That
is, until you hit the Semi-Arid Region where we really live
once you travel further than a few kilometres from the river.
This
is a really, really easy standby for those unexpected visitors,
midnight
snacks etc.
It’s made of stuff that’s always in the fridge/pantry.
Best of all, even when the cook and his/her friends have
demolished a wine bottle or six, impressed snackees and their
tummies will be happy. Only
problem is frequent requests for more as the Masterpieces disappear
quickly.
You
Need:
A
sheet of puff pastry
(Use a generic brand cheapo one, it works OK).
Jar
(or leftovers) of hot salsa.
Salami,
thinly sliced.
Grated
Parmesan,
you don’t have to buy the lovely Italian stuff for a Masterpiece,
but DO NOT use the powdered, in a container, smelly, horrible excuse
for cheese, one that’s in between is OK.
Put
the ingredients on the pastry in the order stated above.
Chop it up in shapes that express your creativity (I wonder
what my squares represent…), whack ‘em on a tray you’ve
sprayed/brushed with oil. Cook
at 215c/420f until puffed, golden brown on the bottom, and the
cheese is a little collapsed – maybe 15 minutes from start to
scoff.
Enjoy.
And
inevitably, Repeat. J
