TUESDAY'S LUNCH SPECIALS
_________________________________________________________________________

How-de-do there, Todd! Love your website!

This recipe belongs to my pal Bev. We discovered these one evening drinking at a tapas place in the East Village - they go down pretty smoothly with red wine.
Luckily, you don't have to pay Manhattan prices for a plate of these tasty suckers - you can make them yourself and EVERYONE loves them.
They only take 20 minutes to prep and make and they are cheap, filling hors d'oeuvres.

Bev's Bacon-Wrapped Dates

1 package of bacon

1 container of pitted dates (make sure they're pitted!)

1 box of toothpicks

Maple syrup

Whole almonds (optional)

Preheat the broiler. If you want a little extra crunch, stuff one almond in the empty hole in the date.

Roll each date in a slice of bacon. Skewer with a toothpick. Place them in a broiling pan, douse in maple syrup, and broil for 15 minutes.

Keep an eye on these. These cook FAST.

Chewy... crunchy... salty bacon... sweet maple syrup... these are the best.

As a buddy once said: "I'd eat my own HAND if it was wrapped in bacon!"

Sincerely,

Irene
