Todd,

I went to the vending machine at work the other day and could swear
that the twix looked shorter. I then looked at others to compare and
it looks like several others have as well. Except for butterfinger,
it still looked the same.

Am I crazy?

I looked on the web but could find nothing official, only other
similar observations. Help us Todd, the truth MUST BE REVEALED!

Hey Odd Todd,

Just read your site and saw that you’re going to be in Des Moines. I’m a long-time reader of your site and love your work – good luck with whatever you’re doing in the great corn state! I hope good things happen for you!

Anyway, I live in Des Moines – I’m not sure how long you’re here, but here are some good places to check out:

– ZZZ Records, 2200 Ingersoll Ave – awesome record store, everything is 10% off this week
– Mars Cafe, 2318 W University Ave – pretty sweet local coffee shop
– Java Joes, 214 4th St – another pretty sweet local coffee shop
– Vaudeville Mews, right next door to Java Joes – awesome spot for live music, something going on every night of the week
– Fong’s Pizza, across the street from Java Joes – a mix between chinese food and pizza
– Hessen Haus, 101 4th St – German-style beer hall

Also, of course, there’s the Des Moines Art Center, the Science Center of Iowa and the Botanical Center. All three are sort of fun to check out.

If you want some good BBQ, try Woody’s Smoke Shack, 2511 Cottage Grove Ave.

There’s some cool stuff to check out in Des Moine’s “East Village” area including the Grand Piano Bistro (piano bar) and a really nice jazz club called The Continental – they start live jazz usually around 10:00 pm.

Or, if you’re looking to check out the suburbs, there’s a bunch of night life in what we call West Glen on Mills Civic Parkway. There’s a bunch of stuff out there – a piano bar, a comedy club and a bunch of bars and restaurants.
